Precision Casting The Most Effective Process for Manufacturing Metal Parts Alumimun Casting Process
Casting - melting metal, making a mold, and pouring molten metal into the mold, and obtaining a metal part blank with a certain shape, size and performance after solidification.
Casting is a relatively early metal heat processing process. Casting is a method of pouring liquid metal into a casting cavity that is adapted to the shape of the part, and waiting for it to cool and solidify to obtain a part or blank.
The cast material is mostly a metal that was originally solid but heated to a liquid state (for example: copper, iron, aluminum, tin, lead, etc.), and the material of the mold can be sand, metal or even ceramic. The method used will be different depending on different requirements.
The casting blank is almost formed, so it can achieve the purpose of free machining or a small amount of machining, which reduces the cost and reduces the production time to a certain extent. Casting is one of the basic processes of the modern device manufacturing industry.
Classification of casting
There are mainly two categories: sand casting and special casting.
1 Ordinary sand casting, using sand as a mold material, also known as sand casting, sand casting, including wet sand mold, dry sand mold and chemical hardening sand mold.
2 Special casting, according to the molding materials, can be divided into special casting with natural mineral sand and stone as the main molding materials and special casting with metal as the main casting material.
The casting process can be divided into three basic parts, namely casting metal preparation, casting mold preparation and casting processing.
Advantages of casting:
1. It can produce parts with complex shapes, especially blanks with complex inner cavities;
2. It has wide adaptability. All metal materials commonly used in industry can be cast, from a few grams to hundreds of tons;
3. The raw materials are widely available and inexpensive, such as scrap steel, scrap parts, chips, etc.;
4. The shape and size of the castings are very close to the parts, which reduces the amount of cutting and belongs to non-cutting processing;
5. It is widely used. 40%~70% of the weight of agricultural machinery and 70%~80% of the weight of machine tools are castings.
